This song was crafted and composed, almost reaching completion, and then, only as an afterthought did it take on "War Poet", a poem by one Sydney Keyes. Still toying around with mixing in battle ambience, and vocals, but here is an instrumental version. Some of the words had to be modified to make it a little more syllabically viable.
lyrics
I am the man who looked for peace and found
My own eyes barbed.
I am the man who groped for words and found
An arrow in my hand.
I am the builder whose firm walls surround
A slipping land.
When I grow sick
or if i grow mad
Mock me not
nor chain me young lad ;
When I reach for the wind
Cast me not down
Though my face a burnt book
And a wasted town.
